LIBBY TRIAL- Plame,Brewster,Ellmann,Edwards,Dennehy,Jennings:Not Secret
por Carolyn Kuhn Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at 2:59 AM

Brewster Jennings was not secret, or not very. People like Robert Ellmann (a Detroit moviemaker in Poland) and Jean C. Edwards (a DC lawyer a physics-conference attendee from Jamaica) put Brewster Jennings on their resumes and posted them on the Web! How secret is that?

Libby is on trial for lying about the exposure of Valerie Plame as a CIA associate working for Brewster Jennings Associates. The disclosure about Plame and Brewster Jennings wasn't a big deal in the first place. Making it a big deal did allow Libby to get trapped. Was revealing Valerie Plame's connection to Brewster Jennings Associates -- a supposed CIA cover company in Boston -- REALLY a crime? No.

And the name "Brewster Jennings," where did that really come from. It is not just the name of a long-dead Standard Oil exec; it refers to another Mr. Jennings, possibly Mr. Paul Jennings of the Anglo-Irish Bank, an enterprise sometimes rumored to be implicated in international money laundering. This banker also has a strong interest in security matters http://www.safetynetsolutions.com/ and worked in technical jobs at Randstad Technical Services (MA) and Receptive Technologies (NH).

Why is VP Cheney's former chief of staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby being tried? To protect Wolfman, Bush, and Karl Rove, just as Libby now claims in his trial. To end the war, what the Democrat Congress really needs to do is investigate these people with a view toward impeaching Bush and Cheney. Once they are out of office, they can be prosecuted along with Rove and others who lied us into war. It is more important to try them than Libby, who is just a distraction, as you can see.

Why does no one at the office building at 101 Arch St. in Boston remember Brewster Jennings? It is not a conspiracy of silence. The fact is that a firm still there, the Burke Dennehy accounting firm, shared a phone number with Brewster Jennings, according to public records. If they also shared a mail drop, there would be no reason for the name "Brewster Jennings" on any door -- so no one in the building remembers BJA.

The fact is, Ellmann and Edwards, both lawyers, do have strange histories that include nuclear involvement. Ellmann edited a book in Poland on Czecho-German uranium. The lawyer Edwards, a techie like the banker Jennings, attended conferences at a nuclear-physics institute in Trieste, Italy, for third-world scientists and engineers. She represented Jamaica!

LIBBY IS RIGHT

He is the fall guy for Bush, Cheney and their staff, who in trying to smear Ambassador Joseph Wilson for blowing the whistle on their Niger-uranium pretext for the Iraq War did indeed implicate his wife with Brewster Jennings. They got the FBI to badger Libby, a man they kept busy and hectic, with questions until some of his answers became inconsistent or inaccurate. They could do that with any busy person, who might get confused or forget details of long-ago events. What they were asking Libby about was the disclosure of a cover that really wasn't a cover.

Let's don't take our eye off the ball. It is Bush and Cheney who need to be investigated, removed, and tried. Libby is just a distraction.
